National Emergency Preparedness Month
September 5, 2008
September is National Emergency Preparedness Month. It is something we probably all think about as we hear of the hurricanes that are visiting America recently. What would you do if you had to leave your home at a moment's notice? Would you know what to take with you? Does your family have a plan at contacting each other, as well as other relatives and friends? The National Safety Council states "Don't wait for an emergency to think about being prepared."
The National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) is participating to raise awareness, and to encourage you to take action to better prepare for an emergency. NAPO President Standolyn Robertson states, "As professional organizers, we can help people prepare themselves at home and in the office for emergencies. By taking the time to get organized and plan ahead, they can more effectively deal with any kind of situation."
The U. S. Department of Homeland Security has a Ready Campaign to assist you. Go to http://www.ready.gov/ to receive information on preparations for your family.
